Unwavering support

None of Logos Hope’s visits would be possible without the strong support from local churches and its leaders. At the official opening in Subic Bay on Tuesday, pastors who have been extending their help and support to the ship ministry since its first visit 15 years ago with the Doulos attended. Other honourable guests included the Vice Governor of Zimbales province, which Subic Bay is part of, Chairman of Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBMA) where Logos Hope is berthed, and the Director of Tourism of the Luzon region.

It was a great encouragement when the Chairman of SBMA, Robert Garcia, emphasized in his speech that he is 100 per cent behind Logos Hope’s visit and fully supports the ship’s vision and purpose. Vice Governor of Zimbales, Ramon Lacbain, also showed his support through sharing the Logos Hope flyer on his Facebook account to attract visitors to the ship.

“We want to have even more visitors than the 170,000 who visited the ship in Cebu!” said Mr Ramon, who also made some suggestions so that more Filipinos would join the ship as volunteers.

After the opening ceremony, down at the International Café, it was an unusual yet heart-warming sight to see Mr. Ramon hugging one of the pastors, Pastor Leony.

“He is my spiritual advisor, a true brother!” said Mr Ramon. The three hundred or so pastors in Zimbales meet regularly to pray for the region and the political leadership, with whom they have developed close relationships with. Praise God for the unwavering support that these Pastors provide for the country as well as for Logos Hope.
