Marco Salas was appointed as the new national director of OM in Mexico in June. He made his decision to accept the leadership based on Matthew 22:36-40 36: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law? Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Marco began his ministry in May. A little while later, several guests who were OM friends, missionaries and OM Mexico representatives came together to ask for a blessing on Marco's leadership. They prayed for wisdom, guidance, love and spiritual covering, strength and faith for the new director who starts a new season.
“Some people have said that the only bad thing about Mexicans is that there are not enough of them in OM,” mentioned Sue Priestley, Associate International Director. “We dream about seeing many Mexicans joining OM here in Mexico and in the rest of the world. We are very grateful that God brought Marco and his wife SeRah Kim to work with OM. We've seen how God has equipped this couple for this time and see with much anticipation what God will be doing with them here in Mexico.”
Roberto Façanha, leader of OM Latin America, thanked OM Central America leader Alex Paniagua for his faithfulness and service as an interim leader for OM Mexico, while “getting a new captain for this boat". "The reason for which Marco and SeRah are here is because God chose them at the exact moment," said Roberto. Alex Paniagua in turn noted that “we want to celebrate God’s faithfulness, who raises leaders from different parts of the world to do His work".
Marco and SeRah received several testimonies and words of support during the meeting. One of the previous leaders, Samuel Castro, gave a final blessing and encouraged them to “preserve themselves in the love of God and give Him the glory.”
