On 22-26 December, for the first time, Operation Mobilisation Hong Kong sent a mission team from Salem Tai Po Lutheran Church composed of six individual church members.
“For them to have spent their Christmas here with us, [rather] than with their family back in Hongkong is a sign of their love for us. A testimony on how God loves us as well,” said Rionel, one of the teens the team met.
For the team and the people they met, the visit was a very wonderful way to share God’s love and blessing – which is the very reason to celebrate Christmas.
The team joined and assisted some of the Christmas Parties that OM outreaches and partner churches had organized including: Tuesday and Wednesday Feeding, Chinese Cemetery, Tac-an Outreach and leading Christmas carolling for the mothers and families in Makro Outreach.
On the eve of 24th December, they were joined by OM Philippines Cebu Steppers and Global Action workers for a Noche Buena and fireworks display on the mountain to celebrate the birth of Christ.
Paul Kwan, one of the team members and resident Pastor of Salem Tai Po Lutheran Church wrote this personal impression after the visit:
“What the country is facing is endless: population growth that caused the formation of a series of problems like poverty, housing, food and education. Authorities must educate the people to do family planning and to at least create a remedial work to help young people and their families to have basic needs and education.
Sharing Christ’s love is a concrete action, which OM Philippines has been doing. Through the organization, the love of Jesus Christ was expressed, and led them to understand the true Salvation and gave them hope. OM Philippines’s work with the kids, youth, and families made me feel that we are rich and blessed. It was a great time to give back what others do not have.
We have to pray that the Lord would richly bless the Philippines – to save them from their sin, grasping the promise of salvation and live an abundant life the Lord had promised.”
Pray that the Lord would raise more partners for missions to reach the marginalized and unreached people – not just in the Philippines but around the globe.
