Relief for eternal life

OM International | Bangladesh

Farhan* was exhausted after a long day of managing details and coordinating trucks to carry items for OM’s emergency aid distribution to families affected by the monsoon flooding. He hoped to rest on the long journey, when his thoughts were interrupted by Uttar*, the driver.

“Farhan bhai (brother), can you please tell me some stories? If you talk with me it will keep me awake and we won’t have any problems on the trip.” It was 2:30 a.m. “I was very tired, but I realized this was an opportunity to share the Good News with Uttar,” said Farhan.

Starting at the Genesis account of Adam and Eve, Farhan explained how God’s creation had become separated from Him by sin. He shared God’s plan of restoration by sending Jesus, His own son, to restore the relationship that was broken. He told Uttar that man now had the opportunity, once a person recognised Jesus as the only Saviour, to have his relationship with God restored. Each person had a choice to make.

Farhan asked Uttar to consider what his response would be from now on. It was around 5:30 a.m. After a silent moment, Uttar turned to Farhan and said, “I want to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior.” They stopped the truck along the road and right there they prayed as Uttar committed his life to Jesus Christ.  “In my whole life, I have never sensed the kind of peace I am feeling now,” Uttar said.

Farhan's countenance changed too. “My tiredness disappeared and my heart was full of joy! Everything I did on that day was insignificant compared with what God had just done,” Farhan said. The OM team went on to complete the relief work planned in the flood-affected districts. “I believe God brought us together to do this work […] because of Uttar’s life. So it is worth all the effort.”

Pray that Uttar would grow in his pursuit and knowledge of Jesus. Pray for continued peace in his heart and for Farhan to disciple and encourage this new brother in Christ, with all wisdom and grace from God. Please pray for OM team members seeking to see a vibrant community of followers of Jesus among the least reached in Bangladesh.
