Jamaica: Montego Bay, Jamaica :: Songwriter Babbie Mason (USA) speaks at a womens event called A Daughter of the Most High King.

Babbie’s vibrant personality and love for people was evident as she stepped off the stage and walked among the tables, offering encouragement and humorous stories.

“The Lord knows where you are at this exact moment,” Babbie told the ladies, acknowledging that at times it can feel like the opposite. “My mother used to come off the phone with someone from our church and say, ‘Lord, if it ain’t one thing, it’s another.’” Babbie reminded the women that God is not surprised by the things that are happening in their lives. “Even before you were conceived in your mother’s womb, even before you were in the world, Jesus had already set your life on a course that delivered you straight to Him.”

Theresa Kempfer (Germany) shared with the ladies that she is a hairdresser by profession and became a Christian in her twenties. Soon after, she began to think, ‘Why do people come to the hairdresser and want to look different from the way God created them?’

“God made us unique on purpose. He doesn’t want us to blend in; He wants us to stand out,” said Babbie. “In the early days of my ministry, I felt like my music was too black for white people and too white for black people, and it made me feel grey; like I didn’t fit.”

Over time, Babbie began to see that uniqueness is a good thing, and that God was using her music to speak into people’s lives around the world.

The ladies appreciated Babbie’s honesty and the opportunity to connect with her one-on-one after the event. “Our pastor likes to talk about how we are created for a purpose,” said one woman, “but Babbie’s message was a good reminder.”
